Kristen Dorsey Designs, LLC was founded in 2011 by Kristen Dorsey, an award-winning Chickasaw metalsmith living and working in Huntington Beach, CA. For Kristen, jewelry goes beyond ornamental adornment; it is a medium with which she has forged her cultural identity as a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, a Native American tribe originally from the southeast.  Utilizing natural gemstones, precious metals, and other materials, her handcrafted jewelry pieces are a unique mix of Chickasaw visual traditions infused with inspiration drawn from the beauty of the California Coast.  Dorsey’s philosophy is that “jewelry is a sacred narrative; it captures moments of significance for the wearer such as transitions in life, relationships with one another, and with one’s community, cultural identity, and spirituality.”

Heart of Shield Studs in Black Rhodium

from 275.00

Her generous heart is as beautiful and serene as cool shimmering gemstones set in silver. The light she brings to so many is captured by the brilliant diamond accent. The Heart of the Shield studs make an elegant thank you to the one who is always there in your time of need.

Each gemstone is cut in a small shield shape. The shield symbol, a design theme throughout the Panther Woman collection, symbolizes the strength and courage of our Chickasaw women throughout history. The shield represents how our women are defenders of their families, communities, and culture. Panther Woman, the namesake of the collection, is a historical heroine from Chickasaw oral tradition. The design represents a sun disk pattern commonly found on ancient southeastern shell carvings from the Chickasaw homelands.

These studs are cast in sterling silver and plated in black rhodium. They are set with your stone choice.
